Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein

The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is the religious and administrative institution responsible for managing and maintaining the shrine of Imam Hussein ibn Ali (peace be upon him), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and one of the three Imams of Shia Islam, located in the holy city of Karbala in central Iraq. The shrine is considered one of the holiest sites for Muslims in general and Shia Muslims in particular, and it is visited by millions of pilgrims annually, especially during occasions such as the Arba'een pilgrimage and Ashura.
